Our History

Founded in 1953, UCP-OC was originally established as United Cerebral Palsy of Orange County to assist people of all ages affected by cerebral palsy. Over our 60+ years of service, however, we have observed great demand for services for children with disabilities. In response, we have streamlined our focus to children while broadening the programs offered, as well as the range of disabilities served to include autism spectrum disorder, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, and other developmental delays. In order to help every child reach their full potential, our services are highly individualized, from simple delays to complicated lifetime conditions.

Because of this wider range of children and families we now serve, today we go by the name of UCP of Orange County (and UCP-OC for short).

UCP-OC now provides specialized care for more than 5,300 children and families each year. We are one of the only organizations in Orange County delivering comprehensive support for children with disabilities and their families. As such, our services are critical to closing developmental gaps and empowering families to care for their child’s special needs.
