Frank's Legacy

On May 14, 2003, UCP of Orange County lost a dear friend with the passing of Frank Tunney. While working as General Counsel for Allergan, Frank served on UCP’s Board of Directors from 1993 to 2000. At various times, Frank served as Vice President and President of the Board and acted as Chairman of UCP’s premier charity event, the Autumn Classic Golf Tournament.

One of Frank’s greatest contributions was his drive to increase charitable support for the vital programs and services UCP provides. Frank and his wife, Doris, not only supported UCP personally, but they were also responsible for garnering significant support from corporations and individuals. The ongoing success of our Autumn Classic Golf Tournament is due in large part to Frank’s vision and his success in bringing sponsors to the annual event.

Even after Frank completed his service on the Board and retired from Allergan, Frank and Doris continued their support for UCP. Indeed, in December 2002, they made a significant gift with the purpose of strengthening UCP’s fundraising efforts. This donation underscored Frank’s continued drive to secure the financial resources UCP needs to deliver the range of services needed to help children with developmental disabilities and their families.

To give life to Frank’s vision of increased and more focused fundraising at UCP, the Francis Tunney Memorial Fund was established to recognize Frank for his many years of support and to secure the funds needed to provide essential services to children with developmental disabilities and their families in Orange County.
